A convenient feature for Cabarete is the proximity to the Puerto Plata International Airport, just 20 minutes by car with daily direct flights from cities such as Miami, New York and Toronto. Mainly centered on world class kiteboarding and windsurfing, Cabarete has more recently been discovered as a fantastic surf and SUP destination especially at nearby Encuentro Beach due to user friendly conditions given any swell direction. Cabarete has many other fun activities to offer including mountainbiking, horseback riding, cascading, ziplining, and hiking, but a large percentage of tourists come to experience the local culture, famous beach bar and restaurant scene as well as the legendary nightlife.
